Who we are
SUALCA is a registered company with its roots and background within the South African Construction Industry.
We have a clear goal that is summed up in our slogan, Empowering through Equipping.
What does Empowering through Equipping mean to us?
Let’s get away from all the terms and acronyms and labels that we have been told to impose on our people. They are not human resources, human capital or whatever other fancy buzz words are now being assigned. They are our people. They are your people.
You can think of them as you work family as they are the husbands, wives, fathers, mothers, sons, daughters, uncles, aunties who make up the backbone of our organisations.
They are the ones who drive the vehicle known as your company to success and profitability. They carry the load of producing what your company stands for and provides to clients. They are our people.
We do not develop an enterprise and end up somehow achieve instantaneous results. Equipping can be done relatively quickly but the process of being empowered and applying the knowledge attained through the equipping takes time. Our focus is to equip your people with key skills to make them more effective in their duties. Through them applying what they have been taught, they add more value and become much more valuable to your company.
We empower them to be more effective and add more value by equipping them. We join with you in equipping your people for your benefit.
Closing the skills gap provided by experience
Look at these pictures. On the left hand side we have a bottle of baby food. On the right we have a lovely ribeye steak hot off the coals. (Yummy, yummy, yummy, over the lips and into my tummy.)
What does this picture possibly have to do with enterprise development and training?
Let’s think of it in this way. When you begin a new chapter in your career, be it as a graduate, or moving to a new role, or moving to a new company skills level and ability to both contribute and add value are either at the baby food level, the steak level or somewhere in between.
I remember in my career I was transferred into a very pivotal role on a project with just four months of post graduate experience. My requirements and my ability to output were definitely at the baby food level, but the project manager, project team and senior company management expected my output to be at the ribeye level.
Similarly if you employ somebody with the correct qualifications, but from a differing environment, as an example a qualified civil engineer from a consulting background into a construction company, that individual would not have the experience to contribute effectively at a ribeye level from day one.
We understand that as employers and managers you need your people to produce at an optimum level from a much earlier stage of their careers than would be reasonably expected of them given their experience level.
With our training material we accelerate the trajectory of being able to add value through instilling tried and trusted principles that can be used and applied immediately.
We’re not saying that after doing one of our courses your people will be transformed from baby food to ribeye level. The ribeye level comes with experience, but we will definitely assist in developing them and equipping them with skills that will enable them to contribute at a level between mince and minute steak.
